We offer non-credit courses, events, travel opportunities and lectures. Hear from outstanding speakers and instructors. No tests. No grades. OLLI is about the joy of learning.

OLLI Movies that Matter Film Festival

The OLLI Movies that Matter Film Festival uses the power of documentary films to draw attention to and bring greater understanding of the cultural, social and socio-economic issues of our time. A panel discussion will follow the films. Free. Open to the public. Registration required.

Mouawiya Syasneh was just 14 when he sprayed anti-government slogans on his school wall in Deraa, Syria. It was February 2011, and he could never have imagined that such a minor act would spark a full-blown civil war. Now a young man, Mouawiya is fighting on the frontline for the Free Syrian Army.

From the conflicts in Iraq and Syria to the tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the struggle between Sunni and Shia groups is tearing apart the region and shows no signs of abating. But for all the religious discourse permeating the conflict, much of its roots are political, not religious.
